ROHM’s Thermal Printhead Contributes to High-Speed, High-Quality Date Coding/Marking

OPEN DATE - Inline Thermal Transfer Printer “Thermocode Series 2R”

Adoption Story

ROHM’s STPH series thermal printhead “TH3002-2P1W00A” has been adopted in the Thermocode Series 2R, an inline thermal transfer printer from OPEN DATE, a manufacturer of coding and marking solutions for industrial packaging.
In industrial packaging, the increasing speed of production lines and diversification of packaging formats are driving growing demand for coding and marking equipment that can address these requirements. The Thermocode Series 2R supports both continuous and intermittent motion through its dual-motion capability, enabling integration into a wide range of packaging and labelling machinery while delivering exceptional print quality across diverse applications.
The ROHM thermal printhead adopted in the printer supports high printing speeds and enables sharp, precise date coding/marking for packaging applications. Its high energy per dot also allows consistent performance across a broad range of ribbon types, including wax, resin, and wax-resin. These features support reliable, stable operation in high-volume production, improved print quality, and adaptability to different production environments, packaging formats, and machine concepts.
In addition, by combining OPEN DATE’s expertise in system design with ROHM’s advanced printhead technology, the two companies jointly worked on dedicated firmware and software enhancements to fully leverage this printing performance. Through this collaboration across both hardware and control aspects, the Thermocode Series 2R helps enhance customer value in coding/marking for packaging applications by combining speed, print quality, and reliability in a single solution.
