Infrared Laser Diodes
780nm band laser diodes are commonly used in CD players, laser printers, and multifunction devices.
More recently, they have been adopted in consumer sensing systems, such as those using optical motion sensors that apply the principles of triangulation and TOF (Time Of Flight). The application scope is expanding to include 3D scanners that capture object shapes with high precision, distance measurement (e.g. robot cleaners, interactive projectors, drones, VR/AR) for detecting the surrounding environment, and motion sensing that detects user movements.
ROHM offers infrared laser diodes not only in the 780nm wavelength, but the 800nm band (820nm/840nm/850nm) as well which is difficult to see. 940nm laser diodes are also available that are resistant to disturbance noise from sunlight.
