How do you calculate the power loss when the current changes with time? For example, what is the calculation method when 500mA flows for 10ms at 100ms intervals in addition to a constant 100mA?
- When the current fluctuates periodically, power loss is calculated by the average current. Average current Iav is
  - Iav=(10ms/100ms)×500mA+100mA=150mA
  , and with an input voltage Vin and output voltage Vo the power loss P_d is calculated as follows.
  - P_d=(Vin-Vo)×Iav=(Vin-Vo)×150mA
