Photovoltaic Power Generation System

EnvironmentCulture & Community

In March 2018, we began generating electricity from the photovoltaic power generation system installed at the entrance of the main gate.
With 1,050 panels, a total length of 270 m, and an annual power generation capacity of approximately 415MWh, it is ROHM Group’s the largest clean power generation facility in Japan.

The system mainly covers electricity for air conditioning and lighting in the office building, contributing to CO₂ reduction of about 190 tons per year.

Since the solar power generation system can be seen from the window of the bullet train, it also plays a role as a symbol for ROHM Group's CSR activities to stakeholders nationwide.

Food Bank Activities

Culture & Community

ROHM Hamamatsu is continuously engaged in food bank activities with the aim of contributing to the local community. Employees donate food, which is then delivered through an NPO to children's cafeterias, single-parent households, welfare organizations, and other recipients.

This activity contributes to solving local issues by reducing food waste and providing support for daily living, and is one of our important initiatives for fulfilling our corporate social responsibility.

Supported by the voluntary participation of our employees, this activity goes beyond mere donations and embodies our stance as a company that lives together with the local community. ROHM Hamamatsu will continue to work with the local community to realize a sustainable society.

Supporting Disaster-Affected Areas Through Donations of Daily Necessities

Culture & Community

ROHM Hamamatsu is conducting a donation campaign for daily necessities with the aim of realizing a sustainable society and supporting local communities. Unused and usable daily necessities donated by employees are reused through a general incorporated association and distributed to various welfare organizations and people in need to support their daily lives.

Additionally, in this initiative, we made a monetary donation to the “2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund” through the Japanese Red Cross Society, proportional to the quantity of donated items. This mechanism ensures that employees' kindness not only supports the local community but also contributes to the reconstruction efforts in disaster-affected areas.

This initiative fosters a spirit of mutual support and appreciation for the things we have. As a company that walks hand in hand with the local community and society, ROHM Hamamatsu will continue to work with its employees to address social issues and engage in social contribution activities.

Cleanup Activities in the Area Surrounding the Factory

Environment

ROHM Hamamatsu is committed to greening and cleanup activities in the area surrounding the factory, while placing importance on coexisting with the local community and preserving the environment.

Approximately half of the factory grounds (approximately 62,000 square meters) have been developed as green spaces, featuring lawns and approximately 50 species of trees, including “Furusato Sakura” (cherry trees) bred at the Hamamatsu Flower Park, totaling 700 trees. This green space, where visitors can enjoy the changing seasons, offers a scenic view visible from the windows of the JR Tokaido Line and Shinkansen trains, bringing beauty and tranquility to many people.

Furthermore, in order to protect and nurture this lush environment, employees regularly volunteer to clean up the area around the company. They pick up trash and weed along commuting routes and surrounding roads, contributing to the beautification of the community. Factory construction in harmony with nature and cleaning activities based on the consideration of each and every employee. Through these two initiatives, ROHM Hamamatsu will continue to promote the creation of a community-friendly environment.
