When an output current exceeding the recommended output current flows, current-limiting operation is performed at the overcurrent detection value set for each product. During overcurrent protection operation the current foldback circuit activates to narrow the output current when the output voltage decreases, protecting the IC from damage. Many linear regulators automatically feed back the output voltage when there is no overcurrent, but refer to the datasheet since there are types that latch.Related Link:Technical Document
