Lineup
Diodes are commonly used in various applications for circuit protection purposes, such as reverse connection protection and rectification. And as lower power consumption is required in most cases, the adoption of SBDs - which are more efficient than other diodes - is on the rise. However, if VF is lowered to improve efficiency, IR which is inversely related to VF will become higher, increasing the risk of thermal runaway, so it is important to consider the balance of VR and IF when selecting SBDs in circuit designs.
In response, ROHM strengthened its lineup of SBDs that balances small size with low VF and IR characteristics, resulting in an extremely strong track record, primarily in the automotive market.
Going forward, ROHM will strive to further improve quality of its semiconductor devices, from low to high voltages, while strengthening its expansive lineup to further reduce power consumption and achieve greater miniaturization.

Application Note
YQ Series : Low VF · Low IR (100V Voltage Resistance)
Key Features
This series adopts new technologies in the form of an original trench MOS structure that reduces both VF and IR compared with conventional planar-type products. trr, which structurally deteriorates in a general trench MOS configuration, is also improved, achieving best-in-class characteristics equivalent to conventional planar products. As a result, switching losses are minimized along with the likelihood of thermal runaway, making them ideal for applications requiring high-speed switching, such as drive circuits for automotive LED headlamps and DC- DC converters in xEVs that tend to generate heat.
Applications
Automotive LED headlamps, xEV DC/DC converters, industrial power supplies, lighting, and more
Product Lineup
RBxx8 Series : Super Low IR (30V / 40V / 60V / 100V / 150V / 200V Voltage Resistance)
Key Features
Ultra-low IR characteristics reduce the risk of thermal runaway - ideal for rectification applications in battery and motor peripheral ECUs for xEVs as well as engine/transmission ECUs in gas-powered vehicles that operate at high temperatures. Models up to 200V are available, enabling the replacement of rectifier and fast recovery diodes normally used in this withstand voltage regime, resulting in significantly lower VF (approx. 11% less vs FRDs).
Applications
xEV battery management systems, engine ECUs, industrial equipment inverters, etc.
Product Lineup
RBQ Series : Low IR (45V / 65V / 100V Voltage Resistance)
Key Features
An optimum balance is achieved between VF and IR utilizing proprietary barrier formation technology. Compared to ROHM’s conventional products, reverse power loss is reduced by 60%. This minimizes the risk of thermal runaway, making them ideal for rectification applications in engine ECUs that operate in high temperature environments, protection circuits for high power LED headlamps, and power supplies in industrial equipment with large current flow.
Applications
xEVs, engine ECUs, high power LED headlamps, power supplies for industrial equipment, etc.
Product Lineup
RBR Series : Low VF (30V / 40V / 60V Voltage Resistance)
Key Features
This general-purpose series reduces VF by approximately 25% over ROHM conventional products of the same size. Providing the lowest forward loss in automotive applications translates to a strong track record as protection diodes for car infotainment and vehicle LED lamps where high efficiency is required. In August 2021 the smallest automotive-grade PMDE package was added to the lineup, making it possible to respond to market demands for smaller sizes.
Applications
Car infotainment, vehicle LED lamps/ECUs, laptops, etc.
Product Lineup
RBS Series : Super Low VF (20V Voltage Resistance)
Key Features
Ultra-low VF allows for significantly lower losses in circuits used mainly in the forward direction. Ideal for rectification applications in portable battery-powered low-voltage devices such as smartphones.
Applications
Laptops, portables, etc.
