■ On-chip emulator, "EASE1000 V2" released

We are happy to announce you that a new on-chip emulator, "EASE1000 V2" is released on sale in March this year.
EASE1000 V2 is a synthesized successor on-chip emulator to conventional EASE1000 and uEASE. The details of EASE1000 V2 are referred to in the descriptions here below.

1. COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE

Whereas EASE1000 and uEASE have incomprehensive coverage across LAPIS’ U8/U16 microcontrollers and are complementary each other, EASE1000 V2 supports all the U8/U16 including ML62Q1000 series as in a table below;

2. FEATURES

EASE1000 V2 is 30% faster*1(approx..) in writing than uEASE.

■ Last-Buy Notification for On-chip emulator, "uEASE" and "EASE1000"

We need your immediate attention to this Last-Buy notification for uEASE and EASE1000.
Our last acknowledgement date of your esteemed purchase orders for the two kinds of on-chip emulators will be March 30, 2019 in Japan time, and their successor, EASE1000 V2 is going to take over thereafter.
For more details, please refer to another document, "Migration of On-chip Emulator for U8/U16-series microcontroller"

1. APPLICABLE PRODUCTS

uEASE, EASE1000

2. LAST DAY FOR YOUR PURCHASE ORDERS

March 30, 2019 (Japan time)
Final acceptance end.

3. OTHERS

uEASE and EASE1000 you may now possess could be kept on use even beyond the above-mentioned Last Buy date.
How to do with your possible additional demands for U8/U16 microprocessor on-chip emulators and/or when uEASE and EASE1000 you now have go dead or worn somehow, you are encouraged to refer to another document, "Migration of On-chip Emulator for U8/U16-series microcontroller" Please note that the way-out may vary dependent upon a situation where you are;

・When you need a new emulator or a replacement for your program development
・When you need a new emulator or a replacement to perform single-shot ROM writing in your production
・When you need a new emulator or a replacement to perform parallel multiple ROM writing to use in your production

■ Migration of On-chip Emulator for U8/U16-series microcontroller

This document is to explicate a way for you to migrate your on-chip emulator for LAPIS original U8/U16 microprocessor from today’s uEASE and/or EASE 1000 (to cease on sale as of March 30, 2019) toward new EASE1000 V2.

1. PRODUCTS IN CONCERN

・uEASE, EASE1000
・EASE1000 V2

2. A WAY TO MIGRATE TO EASE1000 V2

A suggested way for you to migrate to EASE1000 V2 varies dependent upon a purpose of use of the emulator and whether ROM write is performed in Single-write mode or Parallel-write mode. Please refer to a table below;

Purpose
for Program
Development
EASE1000(Don’t care)Just keep on using your uEASE and/or EASE1000.
Only when you come to need additional pieces or a replacement,
you are requested to migrate to EASE1000 V2.
uEASE(Don’t care)
as ROM Writer
in Production
EASE1000Single-Write mode
uEASESingle-Write mode
EASE1000Parallel-Write mode
uEASEParallel-Write modeuEASE cannot be used in parallel with EASE1000 and EASE1000 V2. Thus, when one of your uEASE in your production today gets out of order or worn or when you need to increase a number of uEASEs to link, you have to replace all the uEASEs to EASE1000 V2.

Note :
You are requested to perform a test-run with a limited number of ROMs in your actual production environment before EASE1000 V2 is installed as a new ROM writer in your production as EASE1000 V2 may exhibit unexpected behavior dependent upon your local environment.

3. TIME TO MIGRATE TO EASE1000 V2

Unless you would place a Last-Buy order for back-up stock to uEASE and/or EASE1000 you today have, you’re encouraged to purchase EASE1000 V2 even before the Last Buy date (March 30, 2019 in Japan time).

4. MIXTURE USE OF EASE1000 V2 WITH uEASE AND/OR EASE1000 IN PARALLEL MULTIPLE ROM WRITING

uEASEs you now use as ROM writers in your production cannot be used in parallel with EASE1000 and/or EASE1000 V2, whereas EASE1000 you now use can be used in parallel with EASE1000 V2.

Note :
When EASE1000 V2 is used to write multiple ROMs in parallel, the multiple ROM writer needs to be its bundled MWU16.

5. APPLICABLE PART NUMBERS OF ON-CHIP EMULATORS IN CONCERN

The captioned matrix is referred to in a table herebelow;

Note : When EASE1000 V2 is used to write multiple ROMs in parallel, the multiple ROM writer needs to be its bundled MWU16.

6. ON-CHIP EMULATOR VS. MLTI-WRITER (MWU16, MWUEASE)

MWuEASE can’t be a multi-writer for EASE1000 V2 so that, when you upgrade your on-chip emulator to EASE1000 V2, you’re requested to download a temporary latest development environment from LAPIS Semiconductor’s website to upgrade to MWU16. Please note that MWU16 of EASE1000 V2 is both for parallel multi-ROM writing and single-shot ROM writing so that upgrade to MWU16 is required even when you only use FWuEASE to perform single-shot ROM-writing.

7SDATASDATATESTJust names differ. The function remains the same.

9. VOLTAGE LEVEL OF POWER SUPPLY TO YOUR TARGET LSI

The voltage level of power supply to your target LSI of uEASE is different from that of EASE1000 V2. Please make sure if it would not affect your ROM writer hardware.

10. HOW TO CONNECT ON-CHIP EMULATOR TO YOUR TARGET LSI

As above-stated, pin-layout with uEASE, EASE1000 and EASE1000 V2 are all the same. However, dependent upon your production environment, parasitic capacitance and resistance on board with your target LSI thereon may somehow influence to behaviors of your emulator so that manuals of your target LSI are thoroughly checked.
