For bipolar opamps, if a positive voltage is supplied to the input terminal when the power supply is not turned ON or when the power supply voltage is 0, will current flow from the input terminal to the power supply?
For bipolar opamps (products specified by VCC), a protection diode is not inserted between the input and power supply pins (excluding BA15532F), so no current flows from the input pin to the power supply. However, please note that the withstand voltage will vary depending on the product. Due to the absolute maximum rating for common mode input voltage the following models may become degraded or destroyed if a voltage is supplied to the input pin when the power supply is not turned ON or the supply voltage is 0V.
For other models not listed above, the rating for common mode input voltage is specified regardless of power supply, making it possible to supply voltage to the input terminal even when the power supply is not turned ON or the supply voltage is 0V.
