How does a comparator behave when a voltage less than the negative supply (VEE/VSS) is applied to the input terminal?
- Since an electrostatic protection diode is placed between the input terminal and negative supply pin VEE (VSS), when a negative voltage (forward bias) that turns ON the diode is supplied, a large current will flow which can possibly result in deterioration or breakdown. As a countermeasure, insert a resistor in series to limit current flow to the diode to less than 10mA. Also, please conduct a thorough evaluation of the application.
