ROHM participated in the Lake Biwa Citizens' Cleanup organized by Otsu City

ROHM Co., Ltd. is actively involved in community-based social contribution activities in all regions where the company operates.

On June 25, 2023, 19 employees of the Shiga Plant and their families participated in a cleanup of Lake Biwa organized by Otsu City as part of our SDGs efforts.
Otsu City promotes this cleanup in order to protect the ecosystem around Lake Biwa and organizes it regularly.

The Shiga Plant uses water from Lake Biwa in its production activities, and after recycling the water, it is returned to Lake Biwa cleaner than the original water. The employees of the Shiga Plant have been joining the cleanup program since 2016 to make employees aware of the importance of Lake Biwa as a water source and the importance of keeping the surrounding environment clean since the Plant uses water from Lake Biwa.

Participants commented: "I was surprised to find more food wrappings discarded along the lakeshore than I had expected, and my bag was full of food waste alone," and "I had a hard time removing the garbage dumped between the rocks on the lakeshore. By participating in such activities, I was able to reaffirm the importance of keeping the surrounding environment clean from the perspective of environmental conservation." This activity was a great opportunity to learn anew the importance of keeping the lakeshore and surrounding environment clean.

ROHM will continue to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and the preservation of the global environment through such activities.
