Home|FAQ Search| Although it is noted that exceeding the max. temperature of the junction (150ºC) for an extended period of time will result in failure, will there be any problems if this value is exceeded only momentarily?
ROHM products prevent failure due to excessive heat caused by overload conditions by utilizing a thermal shutdown circuit. Therefore, exceeding a junction temperature of 150ºC will not cause immediate failure. However, the absolute maximum rating should never be exceeded, since doing so - even momentarily - will decrease reliability and may result in failure.
