In 2010, ROHM began mass production of power management and clock generator ICs specifically designed for Intel® AtomTM Processor E600 series for the industrial and automotive markets. This was followed up in 2013 by dedicated power management ICs for the E3800 series - the successor to the E600 series. Development and production also began for power management ICs for the Z3000 series, targeted for the tablet market.
In addition, ROHM offers a comprehensive solution, including a reference board that integrates a number of ROHM's general-purpose products, such as EEPROMs, resistors, diodes, and transistors.
Both products feature superior architecture and leading-edge process technologies that contribute to reduced design time and costs when adopting in embedded and tablet applications with Intel® CPUs, which command a large market share in the PC and server markets.
ROHM has developed power management ICs optimized for Intel® AtomTM Processor E3800 series. The BD9596MWV integrates a power supply core that features superior transient response characteristics along with a 16ch system power supply IC, 2ch DC/DC controller, 3ch DC/DC regulator, 2ch IMVP7 Lite controller, 8ch LDO, and 1ch load switch - all in a 10mm square package. In addition, startup sequence and clock functions are built in that are compatible with SoC applications which are typically controlled by an MCU, minimizing design load signficantly. Adopting ROHM's power management ICs results in 40% fewer parts and reduces board area by 50% compared with discrete power supply configurations, contributing to set miniaturization.
