We are seeking a results-proven and results-driven leader who will inspire, motivate and expand our embedded software and algorithm team to success while providing complete software solutions for Kionix sensors. This position will serve a dual role as algorithm expert and architect. We are seeking talent with escalating hands-on responsibility in software engineering development and industry-related MEMS sensors experience. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated expertise in a variety of the industry's concepts, practices, and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead software, algorithm, and test team
  • Invent and patent proprietary motion processing algorithms that make use of Kionix and ROHM sensors
  • Lead resource optimization efforts on memory and CPU-cycle constrained embedded targets
  • Manage software programs covering a wide range of target capabilities and operating systems, including embedded hub sensor processors such as Cortex M0+; Android and WIN8 SOCs; Sensor device drivers in a variety of formats; Sensor fusion, including auto calibration of all sensors; Fixed point implementation; context awareness/activity monitoring and solution certification consistent with Windows Logo and Android Compatibility Compliance.
  • Adapt software process as appropriate to ensure system reliability while maintaining highly efficient development

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Education/Training:

  • Master's or Ph.D. or equivalent in Software Engineering, Math, Physics or related discipline
  • Minimum 8+ years software development management experience
  • Minimum 4+ years managing embedded software development experience
  • Experienced with setting/adapting software and test processes
  • Proven track record of delivering successful high volume products
  • Proven track record of personally inventing novel IP with a strong signal processing component

The qualified candidate will have a mid to senior level background. Purpose of the role is to specify, implement, debug, and maintain software solutions for Kionix sensors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop Android/Linux drivers for Kionix sensor products.

  • Specify required behavior and sub-system interfaces
  • Specify test plans
  • Interface with test team to identify and correct driver bugs

Maintain Kionix's Android Sensor HAL implementation.

  • Ensure compatibility with new versions of Android
  • Extend implementation to conform to APIs in new versions of Android

Senior Test Engineer, Kionix

SUMMARY

Kionix seeks an experienced test engineer to lead our automated test infrastructure development. The position requires strong hands on development skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with developers and customers.

Specific responsibilities may be tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate. Ideally responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development of automated test suites for motion processing libraries, sensor fusion, and sensor device drivers.
    • Primary test devices will be Android / Windows 8.1 tablets and smartphones, as well as dedicated embedded microprocessor systems (e.g. Atmel UC3, Arm Cortex M, TI MSP430)
    • Test suites will include control of physical known truth tilt, shake, rotation and magnetic field test fixtures, fully automated unit tests, and test applications to accelerate manual test cases
  • Manage the test and release cycle to support general software roadmap as well as the specific needs of strategic customers
    • Write and continually improve motion processing test cases, write release specific test plans
    • Document on materials included in Software Release Process – e.g. API documentation, startup and integration guide, Software application notes
  • Maintain and add capability to software process infrastructure in general
    • Bug tracking database (JIRA)
    • Software repository (GIT)
    • Support variant management
    • Automation / development of cross-platform build environment

Required:

  • 4+ years of applicable, demonstrated work experience

Senior Process Development Engineer, Kionix

Education:

B.S or M.S in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field.

Requirements:

  • 5 + years experience with MEMS process development.
  • Experience with multiple semiconductor fabrication techniques such as silicon, metal, and dielectric etching; metal, LPCVD polysilicon, and dielectric deposition; and, lithography.
  • Strong preference to those with MEMS specific process experience such as through-wafer etching, TSVs, Eutectic bonding, wafer-to-wafer bonding, HF release.
  • Proficient at using design of experiments, failure analysis methodologies, FESEM analysis, and statistical process controls for process optimization and control.
  • Self-motivated and adept at oral and written presentations

Responsibilities:

  • Hands on process development for MEMS inertial sensors in a team setting with other process engineers and technicians.
  • Identification and solution process integration problems.
  • Interaction with the design group to explore trade-offs between design objectives and available process technologies to achieve an optimal overall design.
  • Interaction with external vendors for new process equipment demonstration and evaluation.
  • Application of statistical analysis and process control on critical parameters.
