Laser Diodes

Semiconductor lasers are opto devices often referred to as laser diodes or LDs. ROHM is the industry’s largest producer of laser diodes. The rectilinearity, monochromaticity, coherence, condensation, and pulse response characteristics of laser light allow them to be used in optical discs (optical pickups: OPU), laser printers, multi-function equipment, and more. Particularly in recent years, laser diodes have been increasingly used as light sources for triangulation, ToF (Time of Flight), and LiDAR, with the development of laser diodes for sensing applications expected in the near future. ROHM offers a broad lineup of laser diodes optimized for a wide range of applications.
