ROHM's interactive LED chandelier will be on display at the Maison & Objet trade show in Paris September 6 (Friday) - 10 (Tuesday), 2013
Maison & Objet is the world's premier exhibition
on interior design and decoration.
Widely regarded as Paris Fashion Week for interior design,
it attracts attention from around the world as a place where trends are set,
with over 3,500 journalists and more than 80,000 buyers and professionals attending, and enjoys extensive coverage by the international media.
Every year a leading designer is invited to
Paris to create a special theme for the event.
In the Fall of 2013 Ms. Motoko Ishii and Ms. Akari Lisa Ishii were nominated,
where they will create and exhibit new lighting designs
using leading-edge Japanese technologies and various lighting concepts
that make full use of not only hard shapes
but soft design elements utilizing video, light,
sound, smell, and taste.
One creation that will be on display is an interactive LED chandelier designed
by Ms. Motoko Ishii and developed and manufactured by ROHM.
The chandelier will utilize ROHM's proprietary LED control technology to
create 6 different light and sound effects to suit user needs.
The combination of light, sound, and movement is designed to defy
all previous concepts of what a chandelier is.
