Overview

This general-purpose power supply system for X-ray generators utilizes SiC to increase efficiency and reduce system size through low heat generation.

Results

SiC decreases power loss by more than 2%. In addition, miniaturization of external components and cooling mechanisms makes it possible to reduce the power supply volume per watt by 5x compared with conventional systems.

Overview

Enables a pulsed plasma frequency of 200kHz by adopting an SiC power device module. 

Results

Controlling the chemical reaction of the plasma requires manipulation of pulses in the sub-μ to several μs range. Leveraging the capabilities of SiC makes it possible to achieve consistent ultra-short plasma pulses in the sub-μ region that was difficult with Si IGBTs.
