Kyoto International Music Students Festival 2009

Due to the closure of several schools participating in the Kyoto International Music Students Festival 2009 as a measure to prevent the spread of new type influenza, Rohm Music Foundation reluctantly decided to cancel this year's performance which was scheduled to be held from May 23 to 27.

We present the 17th Kyoto International Music Students Festival 2009, an annual musical event held each spring in Kyoto. The Festival invites 107 students of premier music schools from 10 countries (21 students from 9 schools in 9 foreign countries and 86 students from 12 schools in Japan) to Kyoto to foster international exchange through music and to develop the skills of the young musicians. The Festival comes to 17 times with 1,950 music students participating (383 from overseas, 1,567 from Japan). By performing at the Festival, these students have used music as a meaning to deepen their understanding each other. This year’s Festival features a finale of works by a Austria composer under the title, 'Fescination of Wiener Waltz and Operetta'. Many people enjoy the new musical perspective and performances of wonderful sensitivity of these young musicians from around the world.
