| To look back on relations with Western music in Japan and the history of compositions and music performances, the Rohm Music Foundation published the Rohm Music Foundation CD Reproduction Series from SP (78 rpm) Records <Western Music in Japan 1923~1944> -from the Masataro Sugiura SP Record Collection- in February 2002 as part of its activities for music and culture.
Based on the same purpose, the Foundation this time will publish Rohm Music Foundation CD Reproduction Series from SP Records <A Selection of Japanese SP Reproductions of Excellent Recordings I~IV> by carefully selecting pieces to be recorded from SP records under the following basic criteria (SP records/sound source provided by Christopher N. Nozawa et al.). The selected SP records were recorded over about forty years from 1912 when Japan entered the dawn of the Western music record to 1952 when the production of SP records underwent a full-scale turning point to LP records.
Now, we have published Selection IV, following Selection I (published in Sep. 2004) and II (published in Jan. 2006), III (published in Sep. 2007).
