The Industry's First 4V/100µF Tantalum Capacitors in the 1608 Size

ROHM has announced the development of the TCS Series of compact, low-profile, ultra-high capacitance tantalum capacitors that utilize a new package structure, resulting in an industry-leading capacitance of 4V/100µF in the 1608 size (M Case: 1.6mm × 0.8mm, h=0.8mm). 2012-size products (P Case: 2.0mm × 1.2mm, h=1.2mm) are also offered.
To meet the demand for greater miniaturization, particularly for mobile electronics such as mobile phones and digital cameras, which utilize a large number of tantalum capacitors in the power and audio circuit blocks, ROHM has optimized the internal configuration and fabrication methods to develop a high efficiency bottom electrode structure that maximizes capacitance in a minimal form factor. The result is the industry’s first 4V/100µF tantalum capacitor in the M Case – 3 times the capacitance as conventional bottom electrode products – significantly reducing circuit footprint.
The lineup consists of six models in the P Case, ranging from 20V/10µF to 2.5V/330µF, and four types in the M Case, which range from 16V/10µF to 4V/100µF. ROHM is currently working on developing an even smaller-sized capacitor (1005: U Case), with full-scale production targeted for later this year.
