NewsNews News of 2008ROHM’s Ultra-compact PIN Diode Arrays03.18.2008
ROHM announces the RN142ZS8A and RN142ZS12A series of ultra-compact diode arrays– the smallest, thinnest in the industry. Developed utilizing novel chip device construction and ultra-precise processing technologies, these PIN diodes consist of environmentally friendly (halogen-free) resins diodes and are optimized for electronic devices that demand increasing circuit density in order to minimize size, such as mobile phones and digital cameras. Two package types are available, the 1608-size 8-pin type integrating 4 elements (max.) and the 2408-size 12-pin model incorporating up to 6 elements. The novel design makes it possible to customize the internal circuitry to meet future needs by enabling configuration of different diode types within the same package including Schottky, Zener, and switching diodes, significantly reducing mounting costs along with board area. Sample shipments of the RN142ZS78A and RN142ZS12A PIN diode arrays began in February 2008, with mass production scheduled for April 2008. Other diode types are currently under development.
