KD2003-DF10A、KD2003-DG10A

ROHM recently completed development of the KD2003-DF10A and KD2003-DG10A high-speed, high heat resistant thermal printheads ideal for high-speed printing of receipts, barcode labels, food labels, and tickets. Sample shipments have already begun in November 2006 at a unit price of 4,000 yen. Mass production is slated for January 2007 at an initial monthly rate of 100,000 units. ROHM ELECTRONICS DALIAN (China) is in charge of production.

Thermal printers, which feature quiet operation, good print quality, and easy maintenance (no ink required), are becoming the norm for printing receipts, barcode labels, food labels, and tickets. High-speed label printing as well as high quality graphics and quick response code (QR ? 2D bar code) printing are also increasing in demand.
The KD2003-DF10A and KD2003-DG10A thermal printers for point-of-sale (POS) printing incorporate subminiature exothermic components, support gradation graphics, and feature good thermal response during high-speed printing. In addition, they incorporate a highly durable protective coating that can withstand high temperatures, making high-speed (250 mm/s), high-quality printing possible. Moreover, the energy efficiency required for saturation during high-speed printing is 20% higher than that of ROHM's conventional models, contributing to increased energy savings.
A circuit supply voltage range of between 3.13 and 5.25V has been achieved through utilization of a new type of high-density driver IC developed using cutting-edge LSI technology, resulting in outstanding print output characteristics while being impervious to the circuit supply voltage. Furthermore, a CLK transmission frequency of 16 MHz (at a circuit supply voltage of 5 V) is possible, enabling processing of data at high speeds.
Both models simplify circuit design, support high-speed transmission, and contribute to unification of circuit supply voltages.

· Features

  1. High-speed, high-quality printing (250 mm/s).
  2. 20% increase in concentration efficiency
  3. Wide circuit supply voltage range (3.13 to 5.25 V).
  4. High CLK transmission frequency: 16 MHz max. (at a circuit supply voltage of 5 V).

ROHM has been utilizing unique design, device, and production technologies to produce the most advanced thermal printheads in response to market needs - ahead of the competition. ROHM will continue developing products that meet or exceed customer requirements, such as improved printing speed and greater efficiency.

· Glossary

  • CLK transmission frequency:
A data processing frequency used in sync with thermal printhead operation. The higher the frequency, the faster the data processing speed.
