ROHM Semiconductor's variable output secondary LDO regulators are designed to provide localized power to a variety of controllers and devices, including CPUs and DSPs. Different models are offered in different maximum input voltages (10V/15V) and output currents (300mA/500mA/1.0A/1.5A). Future planning is to offer also devices with a maximum input voltage of 7V.
In addition, a backside metal fin is attached that allows the dissipation of heat through the board, resulting in high package power in a compact form factor. The HTSOP-J8 package is equivalent in size to the standard SO8 package. Additional features include a built-in MOS-FET, soft start function, high-speed load response, and compatibility with ceramic capacitors even with low ESR and small values.
