ROHM expands its lineup of LDO regulators for consumer electronics

Overview

ROHM's variable output secondary LDO regulators are designed to provide localized power to a variety of controllers and devices, including CPUs and DSPs. 9 models are offered in different input voltages (7V/10V/15V) and output currents (0.3A/0.5A/1.0A/1.5A). In addition, a backside metal fin is attached that dissipates heat through the board, resulting in high package power in a compact form factor equivalent in size to the SOP8. Additional features include a built-in MOSFET, soft start function, high-speed load response, and compatibility with compact ceramic capacitors.

Key Feature 2 :  Ceramic capacitor compatibility reduces mounting area

Conventional LDO regulators exhibit unstable operation when using small capacitors with low ESR due to insufficient phase margin, and therefore require large electrolytic capacitors at the output. Conversely, ROHM utilizes proprietary circuit technology and advanced circuit processes to develop LDO regulators compatible with 1µF ceramic capacitors, contributing to set miniaturization and longer life.

Key Feature 3 :  Pin-compatible configurations (entire series) enable flexible response to design changes

ROHM's new lineup of secondary LDO regulators - offered in a compact, high-power HTSOP package - consist of 9 models in different input voltages and output currents. The entire lineup is pin-compatible, making regulator replacement easy due to specification changes during set development.
