Headphone amps usually experience a trade-off between circuit current and distortion. To solve this problem ROHM utilizes a unique circuit structure for simultaneously low distortion and circuit current: 0.006% and 2mA - roughly half the circuit current of conventional amps that don't require an output coupling capacitor. |

ROHM output coupling capacitor-less headphone amps integrate a stable negative power supply charge pump circuit. In addition, signal processing is performed at reference Ground, eliminating the need for a large capacitance output coupling capacitor while allowing direct connection to headphones. This enables attenuated, powerful low-frequency playback similar to conventional systems using an output coupling capacitor. |

ROHM headphone amps are offered in an ultra-compact 2.1mm × 2.1mm WL-CSP, reducing mounting area to only 1/5th the size of conventional circuits utilizing an 8-pin headphone amp and 2 large electrolytic capacitors. Height is reduced as well, making them ideal for sets with severe size restrictions. |
