[About SEGES]

SEGES is a system that objectively evaluates and certifies outstanding efforts by companies and other organizations that contribute to society and the environment through activities to protect and nurture greenery.

[Evaluation]

  • ・Continuing a large amount of greening with a sense of identity, far exceeding the greening rate stipulated by the Factory Location Law in Kyoto city with little green cover in the urban area.
  • ・Creation of a biotope space by 2022 to further promote biodiversity preservation.
  • ・Planning and implementation of environmental educations not only for employees and their families, but also in cooperation with nearby elementary schools

ROHM has long been involved in community-based initiatives, such as greening the area around its head office based on the concept of a "factory in the forest" and using part of the site for the construction of wider sidewalks.

In March 2022, ROHM established an 8,400 m2 biotope in ROHM's head office based on the concept of "a place that connects ROHM, local communities, and living creatures.
Yamamomo (Prunus mume) was planted as a symbolic tree, and a waterfront and fields were constructed to play an essential role in creating a place where various living creatures can come and live.
The biotope is already home to a variety of insects and birds, and is becoming a habitat for them.
The field is used as a place for environmental education to convey the importance of coexistence with nature, and since FY2023, we have conducted guided tours of living creatures and farm work experience events for employees and their families, as well as for nearby elementary schools.

The greening activities around the head office have been recognized in various fields, and we have received ABINC certification since March 2021,from Association for Business Innovation in harmony with Nature and Community Certification(*3) , an organization that evaluates and certifies initiatives to create, manage, and use green spaces in consideration of biodiversity.

Biodiversity preservation activities are one of the measures for "coexistence with nature," which is a key theme of the "The ROHM Group Environmental Vision 2050".

ROHM will continue its efforts to conserve the environment and biodiversity in accordance with its corporate objectives and environmental policy, while contributing to the local environment and appropriately disclosing environmental information in order to achieve a sound partnership with society and realize a sustainable society.
